Micah 6:8

"He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."

At our church, we are in a series about this verse. The pastor is presenting it as a "Cliff's Notes" summary that packages up what God requires of us. Even before the series, Amy and I have been presented with this reoccurring theme of the relationship of justice, mercy, and how it relates to our stewardship of time and resources, and our call to help the poor and oppressed and the suffering. And now it seems to be coming together in a way I have not thought about it before. I feel like we are starting to see the dots connecting to draw a bigger picture of the heart of God and our purpose here on Earth as followers of Christ. Perhaps we can write a series of posts tackling different aspects of what we have been discussing as a couple. I want to open it up to the blog so that I can get some wisdom and feedback from others who have insight on the subject and share their practical experiences to some of the "theory" of our internal discussions. Please comment ... dialogue.

As a starter, here is a link to something I found while searching the Internet about this subject. Please read it when you have 5 minutes and let me know what you think. It was a very helpful introduction to the subject which, I hope, would set a common framework for this discussions to come: Biblical Basics on Justice.
