JG's First day of Kindergarten....

went great!  I woke him up early to get dressed and have a quick waffle and Nutella breakfast.  We left the house by 7:15am to drive to school.  I asked him if he thought he would have fun today and he said "no."  What a stinker!  As we were walking to his classroom, I asked him if he remembered his teacher's name.  He didn't.  Her name is Mrs.Wilson, but he keeps calling her Miss Nelson, from the book "Miss Nelson is Missing".  He went right in, put his things away, and found his seat.  With a quick kiss and hug, I was off!!

On the way to my car, I ran into an old friend from Baylor who is the SLP at JG's school and a old high school friend who works as the Literacy Specialist.  It was nice for me to see to familiar faces and hear encouraging news about JG's teacher and his school.  I also found that one of the little girl's in JG's class is the daughter of an old church friend's sister.  Small world isn't it.

When I picked him up in the carpool line, he came running to me with his arms open wide and a big grin on his face.  I tried to get a pic but my camera battery died.  I asked if he had a good day and he said "no" quickly followed by "yes".  He told me all about eating in the cafeteria, music class, and how Mrs.Wilson has a special jar in her room that gets filled up when other teacher's brag about her students in the hallway (then they get a fun prize).  Overall I think he had a great 1st day!

(Side note:  It was definitely much quieter around here with only Ava and Adrian.  They had fun having a little more Mommy time too)

Beach Vacation

Jesse and I decided to take the kids on a last minute vacation to Port Aransas with our good friends, Mike and Lori and their kids.  The kids loved the beach and were totally content to play in the sand and waves for hours at a time.  Mike brought an inflatable boat and boogie board and JG and Ava liked riding through the waves with him.  Adrian was a handful as he had no fear of the water and waves and would run out into them without any warning.  The best times were the after dinner evenings on the beach.  All the wonders of the beach minus the blazing sun.  We had a great couple of days together before heading to San Antonio to see family and attend cousin Lauren's wedding.
