JG's turns 2!

It is so hard to believe that JG turns 2 years old today. We celebrated with family a few weeks ago and he got very excited eating his chocolate cake and blowing out his candles. Today was just a normal busy Sunday until Mimi, Pawpaw, and Tay-Tay stopped by with cupcakes to wish him happy birthday and sing to him. My family is really into singing the happy birthday song. It doesn't feel like a birthday until my mom, Nana, & Poppy call (all seperately) and sing the song to me. Aaah, I love family traditions! Happy Birthday JG! We love you!!

Tay-Tay saves the day

JG's aunt Kelsey (Tay-Tay, his attempt to say Kay-Kay) has been coming over to our house a few times a week to play with us. JG LOVES her! The days she comes over, she is here when he wakes up, so now he's starting asking me if she is here every morning as soon as I enter his room. I think she is his best friend. Thanks Kelsey for taking care of us both and giving JG a great start to his summer.

JG a big girl too

About a week ago, JG and I were eating a treat for breakfast, pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, when he asked me for a second muffin. I told him that we only get one muffin for breakfast but that he could have some fruit if he wanted. He looked at me and said, "Mommy, more than 1 muffin." (Yes, I had 2). I then said, "Mommy's a big girl." He smiled, looked up at me and said, "JG a big girl too." Such a smartie pants...

The Naughty Little Bear

For those of you that have toddlers, you'll understand what I mean when I say that sometimes you have to tell them not to do the same thing hundreds of times...and when they don't obey, you like to think that it is because they must not understand what it is that you are telling them.

Over the last few days, JG has taken to standing on the coffee table. I have repeatedly instructed him to sit down instead (yes, I've decided that sitting on our coffee table is acceptable). He continues to disobey. Yesterday, I saw JG making his teddy bear stand on the coffee table. Then, in his most commanding voice, he says "No, no. No standing on the table. Sit down." The bear promptly sits down. Hmmm, do you think he understands? Or does my discipline seem like fun and games? I wonder how I can get JG to be as obedient as his stuffed bear....

Birdie gotta boo boo ...

"Birdie fly too hard ... hit window too hard ... birdie gotta boo boo. Awww, birdie". This is the dialogue from JG that commenced just moments after we heard a loud THUD on our front window. He kept saying it over and over. We were wondering how much he had understood of what had just happened. After the birdie stopped moving for some time, he started informing/asking us "birdie sleeping?". For now, I think that was a good enough conclusion from him. I think we'll wait a little longer before crossing that reality check.

On the bright side, we were able to take the opportunity to shamelessly drive home a few lessons we have been trying to teach him. "That is what happens when you run with your toothbrush in your mouth," I think I said. It's worth a shot.
