What's Paul trying to say? (Part I)

9"And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. " Phillipians 1:9-11 (NIV)

9 "And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ; 11 having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God." Phillipians 1:9-11 (NASB)

So, in verse 9, how does love abound in knowledge and insight? I can't understand the meaning or relationship between these two ideas... Help!!

Hmmm, this sounds like a question for a future pastor. I'll get him right on it.

I think it means that when you have more spiritual knowledge from having studied the Bible more and therefore knowing God better, then you have the ability to know what love truly is, and can therefore love others better. Spoken in a long sentence, like how Paul writes! :)
